I get why we have not seen many racers on the Quest, there are controller obstacles to overcome and being put in a car, racing around a track at breakneck speeds, there is a comfort factor to work against too. If there was one genre I wish there were more VR games of on the Quest, it would be racing games. This game is definitely not for everyone, but if you are looking for something casual to play with friends or family, I can definitely recommend this game.Mini Motor Racing X is the best arcade racing game on the Oculus Quest, with plenty of content to keep petrol-headed racers happy. It has all of the charm and simplicity you can find in old video games. When I talk about this game with other people, I try to say that in my opinion, it’s like Nintendo made a Mario Kart game… in the ’90s. It can be played without a virtual reality headset as well, but if you have one, the experience is much better. I have been playing Mini Motor Racing X for about a week, and I think it’s definitely worth its price on the Oculus Store. This adds a new dimension to the game and makes it a lot more fun. It is a child-friendly game, so the physics are very forgiving and there’s no need for high precision when driving.Įven though it may seem boring just controlling a car around the track, you can play online together with friends or random people over the internet. Other than that, the game itself is similar to Mario Kart, where you start with one car and have to beat other opponents to unlock cars and tracks. It is very light and can be played anywhere, and although this has some negative implications (such as poor graphics) it’s nice to be able to play it on a virtual reality headset.
In this sense, I think the port to Quest is a great decision. This explains why it is very simple, but doesn’t stop being fun. One of the first things I discovered about Mini Motor Racing X was that it had been ported from mobile devices to PC and consoles.
